What to expect from your appointment

What you can expect at your appointment

Routine treatment appointment slots last for up to 30 minutes (actual duration of visit to be determined solely by medical need) and include the following:

  • During COVID-19 your podiatrist will be wearing full PPE, consisting of  Disposable Gloves, Face Mask, and Apron and will use hand gel before entering your house and during your consultation (we would also require that you kindly wear a face mask during the treatment session, unless a pre-existing medical condition such as Asthma, COPD or Emphysema etc. make this impossible, and in these circumstances, we ask that you please wear a face shield )

  • All instrument sets used on our patients will have been through a thorough cleaning and sterilisation process and will be in individual, sealed and sterile bags, in accordance with our professional body standards, in order to prevent any slightest risk of cross-infection.

  • A full assessment of the circulatory supply to and nerve function in your feet will be carried out.

  • Your general health, medical history and any medications you are currently taking will be discussed and noted as far as they pertain to your treatment.

  • Any necessary treatment for Hard Skin (Callus) or Corns will be carried out.

  • Any necessary Cutting/treatment of all types of toenails will be carried out (a small reducing nail drill may be used if the nails are thickened, which will not cause you any pain)

  • Any needed management advice regarding foot conditions such as Athlete’s foot, fungal nails, cracked heels, dry skin and common foot deformities such as Bunions, Hammer toes etc. will be provided.

  • Any needed management advice or treatment (where possible) of biomechanical defects will be provided. Your individual biomechanics is the term used to describe the way your foot functions. Many foot conditions are the result of defects in the way your lower limb functions and can be addressed with an exercise programme or an insole/orthotic.

  • All personal and medical information gathered from your assessment and treatment will be held securely in accordance with Data Protection, and should that assessment indicate the need for a follow-up letter to your GP requesting either a course of medication or a referral to another specialist, this will be discussed and agreed by the podiatrist and patient and a copy of the letter will also be sent to you, there will be no additional charge for this service.

  • Your routine treatment appointment cost will be £35 per visit and this can be paid by cash, by cheque or by bank transfer.

  • There are no additional costs to your routine treatment/assessment appointment but if you do require insoles or orthotic, there will be an additional cost for the device.

"Maria has been treating my 'Terrible Feet' for the last 10 years and I wouldn't have anyone else (as long as she can put up with them!) I've also recommended her to my mother in law and her friends and everyone is exceptionally happy with the service she provides. Always professional and efficient, she deserves a 5* rating." - DouglasM-116 - 16 Nov 2020
